Victoria Valdes

3D Print Lab Manager


Victoria Valdes is the lab manager of the 3D design lab in Ruffin Hall. She received her master’s degree in art history from UVA in 2012 and began work for the Department of Art as a translator and database manager shortly thereafter. In 2015 she was promoted to Assistant Director of the Visual Resources Center. During her time at the VRC, Victoria created a full-service 3D modeling program for the department. Her software and modeling expertise includes Rhino 3D, Blender, Maya, Agisoft Metashape and handheld laser scanning tools. The success of the 3D printing initiative has led to collaborations with scholars at Jamestown, Monticello, Fluvanna Historical Society, and Dumbarton Oaks. Victoria has also collaborated with UVA departments including Architecture, Drama, Engineering, Archaeology, and the Fine and Decorative Arts commission.
