Victoria Valdes

3D Print Lab Manager

Biography

Victoria Valdes is the lab manager of the 3D Design Lab, "The Lemonade Stand," in Ruffin Hall. She received her master’s degree in art history from UVA in 2012 and began work for the Department of Art as a translator and database manager shortly thereafter. In 2015 she was promoted to Assistant Director of the Visual Resources Center and created a full-service 3D modeling program for the department.  This 3D program grew to become the 3D Design Lab, where Victoria is now Lab Manager.  Her software and modeling expertise includes Rhino 3D, Blender, Maya, Agisoft Metashape and Creaform laser scanning tools. While the Lab primarily serves the Art Department, its success has led to collaborations with scholars at Jamestown, Monticello, Fluvanna Historical Society, and Dumbarton Oaks. Victoria has also collaborated with UVA departments including Architecture, Drama, Engineering, Archaeology, and the Fine and Decorative Arts commission.
