Milan Matějka

Milan Matějka is a first-year PhD student in Art and Architectural History at the University of Virginia, where he studies medieval art with Professor Eric Ramírez-Weaver. His research focuses on the visual and material culture of late medieval Central Europe, with particular interests in global exchange, spirituality, and practices of bodily and spiritual care. His current work centers on the inventory of Queen Sophie of Bavaria (1376–1428).

 

Before coming to UVA, Milan received his B.A. and M.A. in Art History from Charles University in Prague and also studied at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. He worked in historic preservation and conservation in Prague and, most recently, at Kunsthaus Zürich in Switzerland.
