Poster with a blue-and-olive map-like background advertising “Art in the Patches,” on view November 6–December 7, 2026.

Location: Carr's Field Forest Patch, UVA, near the intersection of Emmet Street N and Ivy Road. The forest patch is located beside Carr's Field, between the School of Architecture and Carr's Hill.

Art in the Patches brings together Professor LaRissa Roger's Clay in Context course and Professor Timothy Beatley's Forest Patches initiative in collaboration with Landscape Architecture.

Through an exploration of purposeful vessels, students have created site-responsive ceramic sculptures that investigate the intersections of art, ecology, and place. Engaging with the forest patches as living environments, the works consider our relationship to the land and the histories and ecologies it holds, inviting us to ask: What does it mean to hold?
