Leo Palma

Graduate Student


Leo Palma is a doctoral student in the Department of Art working under the direction of Professor David Getsy. He studies transgender theory in art history.

Leo has a bachelor’s degree in art history from the University of St Andrews, Scotland, where he was also a faculty research assistant. His undergraduate dissertation, titled “Water and Glass: Transgender Transparency in Elle Perez and Paul Mpagi Sepuya’s Photography” considered issues of visibility of the transgender subject in contemporary photography. He has interned at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice and for several cultural heritage associations in Italy.
