Stephanie Germosen Salazar

Ruffin Gallery and Visiting Artist Program Coordinator

Stephanie Germosen Salazar (b. New York, NY) is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, and arts organizer who is deeply passionate about creating spaces where art, community, and collaboration can thrive. She has organized and curated exhibitions including at the Bronx River Art Center and Joseph H. Seipel Gallery, and most recently served as Director of Gallery Operations & Artist-in-Residence Program at Visible Records in Charlottesville, VA, where she oversaw exhibitions and residency logistics. She taught sculpture at VCU, served as House Manager at The Kitchen in New York, and is a 2023–24 Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellow.

Her sculptural practice draws on highly tactile materials to create objects that give physical form to disembodied histories, touching on questions of geographical belonging, visibility, and spirituality as they relate to cultural identity. She holds an MFA in Sculpture + Extended Media from Virginia Commonwealth University and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and has completed residencies at Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, High Desert Test Sites, and Smack Mellon Studio Program. Her solo exhibition, holding ground is currently on view at New City Arts Initiative through April 15, 2026.
