Elizabeth graduated magna cum laude with high honors from Dartmouth College, where she received the William B. Jaffe Award for Excellence in Art History and completed her honors thesis on John Singer Sargent's early figural painting. Elizabeth is currently a doctoral candidate studying late nineteenth-century European and American painting under the direction of Sarah Betzer. Her dissertation, "Cosmopolitan Facture: John Singer Sargent and Anders Zorn, 1871-1915," explores the distinct resonance between these two prolific painters, one American and one Swede, through sustained technical analysis and critical study of their international communities in the context of fin-de-siècle temporal restructuring.

Elizabeth's work has been supported by a number of research fellowships and grants including the Fulbright U.S. Student Award, the Terra Foundation for American Art Research Travel Grant, the American-Scandinavian Foundation Grant, and the Swedish Women's Educational Association Scholarship. At the University of Virginia, she has also received awards from the Institute for the Humanities and Global Cultures, the Center for Global Inquiry and Innovation, the Rare Book School, and the Society of Fellows. In the summer of 2017, she attended the Summer Institute for Technical Studies in Art, a seminar funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation at the Harvard Art Museums.

At the University of Virginia, Elizabeth has served as a teaching assistant for "American Art Since Reconstruction," "Avant-Garde Art and Film," "Paris: Capital of the Nineteenth Century," "History of Art II," "Art and Money," and "Art and Popular Culture" and has received the Departmental Award for Distinguished Graduate Teaching. She has also served as a Teaching Assistant in Rome for Dartmouth's Art History Foreign Study Program.
